Meanwhile, Chief Minister requested PMO to include Sreedharan and Chennithala in the list. E Sreedharan appeared unperturbed on Wednesday by the noise with regard to his exclusion from the list of invitees for the inauguration of Kochi Metro by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 17, as he oversaw the completed/ ongoing works at Metro stations. There was a huge controversy that erupted after Sreedharan was "sidelined" from Kochi Metro inauguration. "Moreover, PM Modi maintains distance with the person he has to push up", the sources said. While the two have been added to the list, it has not been cleared if the name of PT Thomas has also been added or not.

The names of Sushma Swaraj and E Sreedharan cropped a day before Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other ministers are scheduled to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechuri to build consensus on the new president to avoid election. Kummanam had said the Centre had earlier sent an initial list and it only send the final list today. Restrictions are common in a Prime Minister's function.

Jumping into the action, the Kerala government headed by Chief Minister Pinari Vijayan, has written to the PMO to revise the seating arrangement and to reserve a place for Sreedharan. However, an upbeat Sreedharan told media that he was not aware of the developments, but will attend the inaugural ceremony. He is considered close to PM Modi being the latter's Man Friday. But Jaitley was considered the most suitable for the post.

Responding to the controversy, E. Sreedharan had said that he had no issues with his name not being there on the list. Even the citizens of the country have great respect and admiration for Sreedharan.
