Orlando City striker Cyle Larin arrested on DUI charge

Larin was stopped by Florida Highway Patrol for driving the wrong way in Orlando and almost causing a head-on collision, about three miles from Orlando City's stadium.

Larin, who said he has lived in Orlando for three years, told the trooper that he was unfamiliar with the area. He remained in jail pending the posting of a bond when news of his arrest emerged around 9am ET on Thursday.

Major League Soccer said Thursday that Larin will undergo an assessment by the Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health program doctors and that he will be ineligible to play until that assessment is complete and he is cleared by the program doctors and the league has completed its investigation. Another vehicle just avoided a head-on collision with Larin's Cadillac, troopers said.

The trooper described his eyes as bloodshot and glossy and said that the vehicle smelled of alcohol, the report said.

According to the officer, Larin also offered several answers when asked how much alcohol he had consumed, at first saying none, then two drinks, then 2-3 "Vodka Red Bulls". Other players with DUI arrests have typically received three or four game suspensions, as noted by the Orlando Sentinel.

"Mr. Larin continued to change his answers", the officer said.

Considering his reported state and driving the wrong way, it's great that Larin was stopped by police before anything horrific happened.

Larin - the #1 overall pick in the 2015 MLS Draft - was arrested around 2:30 AM early Thursday morning after an officer spotted him. He had 14 in 2016 and eight so far this season, which leads the team.
