Melania and Barron Trump move to the White House

A tweet and Facebook post from first lady Melania Trump revealed that she and son Barron, 11, had made the move to Washington, D.C.

While many first ladies are married to career politicians, Trump's unexpected presidency win brought the new FLOTUS into the role without the years of adjustment most first lady's experience.

Mrs. Trump's press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, confirmed their official move from Trump Tower in NY to the family quarters, in an email to USA TODAY and a tweet on the official FLOTUS account. He will attend a private school in Maryland in the autumn.

They were accompanied by President Trump's in-laws, Viktor and Amalija Knav, on Marine One from Joint Base Andrews.

Trump and Melania's son Barron become the first boy to live in the White House after three-year-old John F. Kennedy 1963.

In her tweet, she wrote: "Looking forward to the memories we'll make in our new home!"

The first lady's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, confirmed the move.

During the week at least, Trump had been living alone in the vast, private quarters of the White House as he fends off the flood of reporting over Russian Federation having allegedly meddled in the 2016 United States election with the aim of helping him defeat Hillary Clinton. With her move into the White House, media attention will likely intensify.
