Gen. Rawat questioned as to how many more generations will have to see the gunfire and smoke from explosives.

On Tuesday, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh and Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat separately praised and lauded these Kashmiri youth for their academic achievements.

His visit to IOK comes a few days after his diatribe against Pakistan, in which he indicated that Indian Armed Forces are ready for a "Two and a half front war", relating it internal and external security challenges. How long will we stay in this atmosphere.

He also said that the recent spell of unrest has led to decline in tourism in the valley.

"Kashmir is heaven. We have to again bring it to the level that was there before". Students from underprivileged backgrounds from places like Kupwara, Pulwama, Anantnag and Shopian, showed great determination and got selected in prestigious educational institutes.

"They (the youth) should either have a laptop or a book". JEE-Advanced examination, which was earlier known as the Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination, is the most competitive examination for engineering.

Thirty-five students enrolled for this programme. Around 2.20 lakh top scorers from the JEE Main 2017 were given a chance to sit for JEE Advanced examination this year, however, only 1.7 lakh candidates registered for the exam that was conducted on May 21st, 2017. "The success achieved this year was overwhelming, with nine getting through". The remaining 11, who could not clear entrance for the NITs or IITs, have passed the Jammu and Kashmir's Common Entrance Test (CET) for engineering.
