Man arrested after hiding motor oil and DVDs in trousers

Surveillance video from a Lakeland 7-Eleven shows a man stuffing 15 bottles of motor oil and 30 DVD's down his trousers in a freakish theft, deputies said.

A Polk County Sheriff's Office Detective was parked in an unmarked vehicle outside the 7-Eleven on Duff Rd.in Lakeland, when he saw a man wearing baggy blue jeans walk into the store. "Our detective who is sitting in the auto, watching all of this, says to himself, 'Self, I think I'll arrest him'". He allegedly went into the first aisle and hid 15 motor oil bottles in his "baggy blue jeans". The official could see everything Hall did, the statement said.

Hall then waddled his way back into the store with a defeated look on his face and Detective Ryan in tow. Oh, and in case you're wondering (how could you not be?) the man managed his baggy pants-banditry by tucking the ends of his trousers into large work boots - allowing him to then stuff the aforementioned motor oil bottles and DVDs. Since it's the 38-year-old's third petit theft arrest, he was charged with a felony.

In a post on the sheriff's Facebook page, Hall is advised that the next time he needs some motor oil and last-minute gifts, to please pay for them.
