Body dumped along Texas road after hearse stolen

The vehicle was located before noon.

Two people are being questioned in a freakish stolen hearse case. At about 7 a.m., a passerby spotted a gurney with body in the 6000 block of Dick Elliott Road.

The body was found on a stretcher dumped alongside a rural road in Brazos County.

Deputies with the Brazos County Sheriff's Office reported they received a call about the unusual discovery early Friday morning.

Apparently, a funeral home employee left the hearse with a body inside unattended, when a suspect got in and drove away.

Bryan Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division is handling the investigation at this time.

While he was inside the restaurant, someone jumped into the hearse and took off, perhaps not realizing there was a body in the back. Both suspects were arrested and face a felony charge each of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and displaying a fictitious license plate.

Albrecht is also charged with abuse of a corpse, a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail, the Eagle reported.

The body was recovered and returned to the funeral home, but the hearse has still not been found.
