Woman videotapes kangaroo grabbing girl at animal park

Cheyenne White, 9, and her little sister, 2, were visiting a kangaroo site at the wildlife park when a kangaroo attacked and bit White on the head.

The incident happened Saturday and was caught on camera.

Nine-year old Cheyenne now has fourteen stitches.

"I'm just glad I was there", Jennifer said. A spokesperson said that it came from an outside source, and that it is one of two complaints filed against Harmony Safari Park this year, WHNT reported. White told WAFF in Huntsville that the family had been to the zoo multiple times, but had never seen the kangaroos before. Mom drove them to one of the girls' favorite places. "I thought it was playing", Cheyenne said.

Jennifer White took this cell phone video of her daughters, up close to the kangaroo.

A video White shared with WHNT News 19 shows the kangaroo grab the girl while standing near a fence.

The girl's mother, Jennifer White, shared the video with WHNT.

There is other warning signage around the kangaroo enclosure that says, "I bite", but Jennifer says it's not enough. "I don't want it to happen to someone else's kid, because they may not be as fortunate as my daughter was", White said. There were signs at the start of the kangaroo trail that warned customers that under a state law they take their own risks when visiting an agritourism business.

There is a sign that reads "I bite", on a plaque outside the fence.
