Travis Rudolph led the Seminoles in receiving in what would be his final year. Darryl Rudolph was killed Saturday in an accidental shooting, according to authorities.

The father of a Florida State wide receiver and National Football League draft hopeful who gained fame last summer because of a viral photo of him eating lunch with an autistic boy was killed Friday in an accidental shooting in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Sheriff's Office says the shooting was "accidental". He died later after being taken to St. Mary Medical Center.

Travis Rudolph's mother confirmed Darryl's death.

Rudolph's father was working near a nightclub in the West Palm Beach area.

The younger Rudolph is known not only for his talents on the football field, but also for last August's viral story of him eating lunch with an autistic middle school boy who was sitting alone.

Travis Rudolph finished his career at FSU as one of the top receivers in the school's history, ranking in the top 10 in receptions and total yards, and 13th in career touchdowns.

Most sports outlets predict Rudolph will be a mid- to late-round selection in this week's NFL Draft in Philadelphia.

The two became fast friends and Rudolph was able to invite Paske and his mom to an FSU game. "I told them get your education. That's what Travis followed through on".
