Packers Will Face Seahawks, Falcons to Start Season

Despite leaks from reports throughout the day, giving some of those on social media already an idea for where and when the Packers will face their 2017 opponents, the National Football League officially released the 2017 regular season schedule.

As exciting as the opening game between the Chiefs and Patriots should turn out to be, the argument can be made that won't even be the most exciting matchup from Week 1 since it's tough to top a Sunday between the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers.

The Packers lead the all-time series, 12-8 against the Seahawks, winning the last two at Lambeau Field. It'll also be the first game played in the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Maybe one of the two teams can score a touchdown this year in Glendale when the Seahawks and Cardinals face off in Seattle's one Thursday night appearance in 2017.

In all, the Packers have five prime-time games, a total that could change based on flex scheduling.

Additionally, TODAY'S TMJ4 will now produce and broadcast "Packers Family Night, presented by Bellin Health", the team's annual family-focused event at Lambeau Field that includes a full practice and a game-like atmosphere. In Week 2, Green Bay will return to the scene of the crime - last year's season-ending 44-21 bludgeoning in the NFC Championship game at the hands of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. Now, the tables will flip and give the Packers two home games against the Ravens and Bengals, as well as pitting them in road matchups against the Steelers and Browns. Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game would be moved to an afternoon start time.

With Christmas on Monday this year, the Packers will play one of the two games on Saturday night. Seahawks 3-0 in usually sleepy Santa Clara and this game might not be any different against a 49ers team with its fourth coach in four years. A rivalry game against the Bears closes the month.

In Green Bay for the start of the team's voluntary workouts, Rodgers spoke to Demovsky about his offseason regimen, and how golf was cut from his itinerary.

Last year: 10-5-1 (first place, NFC South. W, 26-6, Detroit in Wild Card; L, 36-20, at Atlanta in Divisional)This year: The Seahawks averaged 412 points per season from 2012 through 2015.
