National Basketball Association investigating incident between Patrick Beverley and fan

While the Chesapeake Energy Arena crowd chanted "MVP! MVP!" Westbrook went just 4/18 from the field in the fourth quarter. But during a stretch late in the third quarter, he helped the Rockets rally from a double-digit deficit to get back in the game with a 12-3 run.

Eric Gordon gave the Rockets their first lead of the night by draining a three-pointer with 8:08 remaining in regulation.

Stephen Curry scored 19 points on an off night, JaVale McGee sparked Golden State off the bench with 15 points, and the short-handed Warriors beat the Portland Trail Blazers, 110-81, in Game Two of their first-round playoff series on Wednesday night without injured leading scorer Kevin Durant. The teams will meet again in Oklahoma City, on Sunday, April 23.

As if that wasn't enough, Westbrook broke the record for the most triple-doubles in a single season with 42 and also claimed the league's scoring title. Harden was No. 2 at 29.1. His line from Game 2 was nearly identical: 51 points, 13 assists, 10 rebounds, 17 of 43 shooting, 2 of 11 on 3s. Harden finished with 44 points.

Whether that contributed to Westbrook's 4-for-18 shooting in the fourth quarter is hard to say. I can't think of a better use of a Friday night than watching the Rockets go for the kill against OKC.

Game 3 is tonight in Oklahoma City. This was a very entertaining game to watch and here's a few takeaways from Game 3. But as they head to game four, they will understand that even with those gaudy numbers, the Rockets still had the last shot to win the game. "We have to come out and match their effort".

Beginning with Westbrook's ridiculous performance in Game 2 - from his 51-point, 10-rebound, 13-assist triple-double to going 4-for-18 in the fourth quarter and shooting the Thunder out of a close game - Katz discusses everything that comes with being around Westbrook, from analyzing his play in that game to how he's played the entire season to what it is like dealing with someone as unpredictable as Westbrook can be in every facet of his life on a daily basis. Or Andre Roberson's offensive limitations.

And that's really the bottom line at this point in the National Basketball Association season.

Gordon scored 22 points off the bench for Houston while Lou Williams added 21 of his own. His shooting at the foul line remains gruesome, however: He was 0 of 5 in Game 3.

James Harden pumped in 35 points, including a 3-pointer during a 10-0 run that put the Rockets ahead 114-104 with 1:22 remaining. He couldn't convert on his 3-point try, however, but Thunder big man Steven Adams was perfectly positioned for the tip-in bucket that gave OKC a 113-111 lead.

The Thunder will have a day of rest before their next game. The start time hasn't yet been determined, but Game 5 will be televised both on Fox Sports Oklahoma and TNT.

"That's the thing", Oladipo said, "when you have games like this, you go back to the basics".

Guard Russel Westbrook posted a triple-double for the game.
