Police say Kouandijo was found "not fully clothed" in the middle of a field after he had reportedly climbed over an electric fence.
Police did not detain the 6-foot-7, 322-pound Kouandjio, but the athlete allegedly shouted "Shoot me!" to a Sheriff's deputy who approached him.
According to the news site, police did not know Kouandjio was a professional athlete until discovering his abandoned vehicle, conducting a search and spotting Bills gear inside.
The Bills said they are monitoring Kouandjio's condition and still gathering information. "We don't have all of the details, so we won't have any further comment at this time", the Bills said in a statement. A check of the license showed the vehicle was registered to Kouandjio.
Police initially didn't know who Kouandjio was, but after finding his auto abandoned with Bills gear inside, they were able to make the connection.
Exactly what happened is unclear.
Kouandjio was not arrested in the incident and was taken to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.
