Labour leader says UK election 'establishment vs people'

Labour is proving more adept at in-fighting than developing a coherent programme for government.

Professor John Curtice, Britain's leading election expert, says that despite May's strong showing in head-to-head opinion polls against Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, a lot of Labour seats are still safe due to their demographics.

"We'd like to meet to explore the best options for beating the Tories in June", they write. That isn't down to Jeremy Corbyn.

Why should anyone trust Theresa May?

May wants to portray the June 8 election as a contest between her determination to honour the voters' referendum decision and efforts by all other parties to sabotage that democratic choice. She said Brexit only highlighted deeper ideological differences between the anti-globalization, pro-Brexit working class bloc and the pro-E.U., pro-immigration urban voters. And look what happened to him.

Of course, the timing of this is incredibly convenient.

"Every Tory vote risks a strengthened Tory government and we should be in no doubt what that would mean". And that would lead to the loss of Theresa May's majority.

It wasn't just the opposition that criticised the Prime Minister, with the SNP's Angus Robertson attacking her refusal to participate in TV debates in the run-up to the election.

The issue presents problems for Labour.

Mr Corbyn retorted: "We welcome the general election but this is a Prime Minister who promised there wouldn't be one, a Prime Minister who can not be trusted". For the next six weeks the party needs to come together and present themselves to the nation as a team. J.K. Rowling, the beloved author of the Harry Potter series of books, claims to want the best for Labour.

He added: "At present there is manifestly a huge vacuum on the centre-left represented in substantial part by the 48 per cent of the electorate who rejected Brexit and the lies on which it was based". This is the kind of negative media that has put us in the mess we are in. But Lib Dem watchers guess the party could pick up more than 20 new seats. It is about the party itself.

The same goes for Corbyn.

"Instead of the country's wealth being hidden in tax havens, we will put it in the hands of the people of Britain, as they are the ones who earned it", he said. Labour are the only party capable of taking our country through a Brexit that maintains our powerful stance within Europe.

"We don't accept that it is natural for Britain to be governed by a ruling elite, the City and the tax-dodgers".

The Lib Dems. well they don't have a clue.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has ruled out any chance of a "progressive alliance" with the SNP in a bid to lock the Tories out of power at Westminster. UKIP offer nothing to the United Kingdom, and have no real policies.

The Labour leader was mobbed by supporters following his brief address, signing autographs and posing for photographs and selfies as he made his way through the crowd. They may win a few back from the Tories but they too will be taken aback by this announcement and, when they have to cover the whole country, the party's meagre resources don't spread far.

Asked if there would be clear red water between Welsh Labour and UK Labour, he said: "No, I think it's a question of tailoring our message according to which nation we're campaigning in". Defeating this cruel government should be our priority.
