Bill O'Reilly Is Out At Fox News

Stephen Colbert spent almost a decade on The Colbert Report playing a satirical character based largely on Bill O'Reilly, so it's no surprise he had plenty to say about the O'Reilly Factor host's ouster from Fox News on Wednesday in the wake of sexual harassment allegations.

Following the Times story, 21st Century Fox said it had asked the same law firm that investigated Ailes to look into O'Reilly's behavior.

Commentator Bill O'Reilly will not be returning to Fox News after allegations of sexual harassment by several women, network executives announced Wednesday.

But since reports of the alleged payoffs surfaced, dozens of advertisers, including BMW, have pulled out of the show. Tucker Carlson is set to permanently take over the 8 p.m. time slot.

"We'd like to address questions about Bill O'Reilly's future at Fox News". Fox News' Dana Perino sat in on Wednesday night.

In 2004, he settled a $9 million lawsuit with former Fox News producer Andrea Mackris, who accused him of talking about his sexual fantasies and masturbation. O'Reilly's exit, which was first reported by NY magazine, follows that of former Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes, who was forced to resign in July after being accused of sexual misconduct by a number of women, including former anchor Gretchen Carlson.

Lastly, and most importantly, we want to underscore our consistent commitment to fostering a work environment built on the values of trust and respect.

Mr. O'Reilly's show had been the anchor of the evening, and his ratings power had boosted viewership for the shows that followed him.

O'Reilly's public statement on Wednesday gave no indication about what he might do next.

Nearly immediately after the announcement of O'Reilly's departure, Fox released its new, O'Reilly-less lineup, which will start Monday, the day O'Reilly had been scheduled to return from vacation.

But it's unclear if Francis knew who O'Reilly was, and they appeared to exchange no conversation as O'Reilly joined VIPs in a suit and tie to greet the 80-year-old pontiff in the spring sunshine.

"A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian", the pope said after a visit to Mexico.

Kelly was also one of the accusers and detailed Ailes' behavior in her best-selling book, "Settle for More". Burke, a former Fox News correspondent in Rome, denied having facilitated the tickets.
