Fizdale fury after Spurs maul Grizzlies

The San Antonio Spurs are looking for their second win over Memphis Grizzlies after their Game one win.

After losing a defensive-oriented battle and falling to a 2-0 deficit to the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale had an incredibly entertaining rant in his postgame press conference. Leonard scored those 37 points on just 14 shot attempts by going 19-of-19 from the free throw line, becoming only the third player in National Basketball Association history to shoot at least 19 free throws and make all of them in a playoff game.

Cleveland Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving, right, drives to the basket against Indiana Pacers' Myles Turner (33) in the first half in Game 2 of a first-round NBA basketball playoff series, Monday, April 17, 2017, in Cleveland.

"Obviously if I'm getting doubled every single night, then I get more comfortable at dribbling the ball", Leonard said. I'm not a numbers guy, but that doesn't seem to add up.

Leonard went 19-of-19 from the free throw line in Game 2, the first player with that many makes and no misses since Dirk Nowitzki's 24-of-24 game in 2011. Leonard is a combined 17-of-19 against them, with 21 of his 28 free throw attempts coming from against that quartet. We don't get the respect that these guys deserve, because Mike Conley doesn't go insane, he has class, and he just plays the game, but I'm not gonna let them treat us that way. He became the fifth player since 2006 to score 1,000 points in his first 46 playoff games, joining Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook.

I mean, it's not great that the Spurs allowed a 26-point advantage to get cut to just four, but it is absolutely great that they didn't wilt and let Memphis come all the way back.

"I thought we did a good job defensively", Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told reporters. That's unacceptable. That's unprofessional. "But give them credit; they really turned the game around defensively against us".

After delivering his two cents, Fizdale slammed his pen on the table in front of him, said "Take that for data!" and left the podium, much to the delight of meme lovers everywhere. His performance was even more impressive, scoring 37 points on 14 shots. It will be an uphill battle for the Memphis Grizzlies starting Thursday at the Grindhouse. "But the name of the game tonight is we've got to keep them off the line". No, but they respect me as a person, I feel like.

"Yeah. You see two different teams here", Conley said. The San Antonio Spurs have split their last eight road games. "The Spurs are champions. He gets us open shots". The best part was the team keeping their composure, not going off in different directions, and just trying to do what we planned to do execution-wise at both ends.
