Suspect arrested in Google exec's murder

Marcotte, a 27-year-old Boston University graduate who was living in NY and working for Google, was visiting her mother in Princeton last summer the weekend she was murdered.

"Good afternoon. We got him", Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. proclaimed at a news conference Saturday outside the police department in Princeton, a small community of about 3,500 residents in central MA.

The body of 27-year-old Marcotte was found August 7 in some woods about a half-mile from her mother's house, where the young woman was visiting family.

Marcotte, 27, lived in NY and worked as an account executive at Google. According to her LinkedIn profile, Marcotte had been at Google since January 2015 and was working as part of the company's health care division.

Police have charged 31-year-old Angelo Colon-Ortiz, of Worcester, with several counts of aggravated assault. Early said he anticipates a murder charge against Colon-Ortiz, who is expected to be arraigned Tuesday. DA Early said an alert state trooper in Worcester saw a man and a vehicle that matched the Marcotte murder suspect's description, and did a cheek DNA swab test that eventually led to Ortiz's arrest.

"I think everyone just wants justice for her, so maybe that can start and a little bit of healing can start maybe", one woman said.

In February, the DNA evidence helped authorities develop a profile of the suspect. He is being held at the Millbury State Police barracks on $1 million cash bail.

Officials said they were searching for a Hispanic man with an athletic build and average height. The man is said to have driven a dark SUV that would have been in the vicinity of the murder that day and would have likely had scratches on his arms, hands and face.
