Samsung sees strong demand for Galaxy S8 and S8+ phones

The company previous year discontinued the Galaxy Note 7 production in just a few months after its release due to the battery defects that were believed to have caused fire on the device.

Even with the strong pre-orders, executives at Samsung acknowledged its reputation won't be rebuilt overnight.

For Samsung, the record pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 represent a considerable remove from a year ago when it experienced the embarrassing and costly recall of the Galaxy Note 7 after a problem with the battery caused some of the devices to catch on fire. The pre-orders in South Korea have already begun, and it appears like the fans are really liking it.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ also feature some of the most advanced types of security features. New reports indicate Samsung is working on somewhere between 2,000 to 3,000 dual-screen prototype smartphones dubbed the 'Galaxy X'. The Galaxy S8's smartphone dock comes with a $149.99 price tag, and it will be released on April 20 on Amazon, while the Samsung confirmed its shipping by the early part of May.

Apparently, Samsung hasn't given up on making rugged versions of its flagship handsets, and it's now working on a Galaxy S8 Active that will be sold by AT&T in the future. "Until now, pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 reached 620,000 units, with the 128GB Galaxy S8 Plus accounting for 150,000 units", a Samsung official told the Korean Herald. The standard S8 has a 5.8-inch 1440p sAMOLED "Infinity Display" while the S8+ has to do with a 6.2-inch 1440p version of the same. "Although we have had a hard time over the past two years in the market, we believe Chinese consumers will react to and recognize good products", the mobile chief said. In addition, the selfie-camera of the Samsung S8 is better able to focus, thanks to face detection autofocus the camera can accurately measure how far you are away from the camera and automatically adjusts the focus to it. Interestingly, Galaxy Note 8 will come and feature dual-firing speakers, which could deliver true stereo sound that can also be found in Apple's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
