HUD Secretary Ben Carson gets trapped in elevator at affordable housing complex

Ben Carson's housing tour in Miami on Wednesday hit an unusual snag.

Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson got stuck in an elevator today (April 12), while touring Courtside Apartments, a public housing complex in Miami. Mourning patiently waited for Carson and his wife outside of the elevator.

From Overtown, Carson went to Collins Park Apartments in Allapattah.

Yes, Hall of Fame center (and apparently community activist) Alonzo Mourning had to idly sit by while the HUD Secretary was rescued by the fire department, adding yet another freakish twist in Ben Carson's adventures in communism.

To make matters worse, former Miami Heat player Alonzo Mourning was waiting for him outside, according to the New York Daily News.

According to reports, the Carsons were stuck for around 20 minutes but appeared to be in good health as presented in some photos that have surfaced thus far.

Carson, a retired neurosurgeon who does not have experience in housing policy, stopped at the complex as part of a nationwide "listening tour" of affordable housing developments for low-income residents.

When he arrived, Carson was led into another elevator.

The elevator was descending from the roof when the doors jammed on the ground floor. "Do we have the key?"
