Call of Duty: Black Ops II Joins Xbox One Backwards Compatibility List

You can also buy the game digitally on Xbox One via the Marketplace.

Blacks Ops II was one of the most pivotal games in the Call of Duty franchise and is widely considered the beginning of one of the brightest eras in the game's esports past.

Earlier today, Xbox boss Phil Spencer tweeted that "Today is going to be a fun day".

Even with all that in mind, though, Black Ops II remains a huge highlight for the series, selling 7.5 million copies in the USA alone. This was one of the most requested game from fans of the series and it was also the top voted one on the backwards compatibility list. Just begin the download and you will be good to go.

It was announced by Microsoft on April 11th that the game is now playable for the latest generation console, allowing you to play Treyarch's masterpiece.

Another title has joined the ever expanding Xbox Backward Compatibility program. And with the game discounted for the Spring Sale, Activision will likely see a small bump in sales thanks to the news.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is now backwards compatible on Xbox One.

Should you already own Call ofDuty Black Ops 2, or indeed any new backwards compatible games, then they should show up automatically in your Xbox One game library. Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 follow close behind.
