Jak and Daxter Will Arrive on PS4 Later This Year

While the series has mostly come to PS3 via an HD remaster, Sony has announced today that most of the series will be coming to the PS4 as PS2 Classics later in the year.

Each title will receive an HD upgrade consisting of 1080p up-rendering and Trophy support. In the first game, Jak tries to help Daxter to return to his human form after he is transform into a hybrid of otter and morsel. Furthermore, the fan-favorite Jak X: Combat Racing, which brings vehicular combat to the Jak and Daxter universe, is also coming to PS4 as a PS2 Classic. Notably, Jak X: Combat Racing won't have any online support and will only support local split-screen co-op, according to PlayStation. They had previously gained fame thanks to the classic Crash Bandicoot trilogy released on the original PlayStation. A more exact release date will be known as it gets closer, but for now it's all aboard the hype train for Jak and Daxter finding their way back into being among our most played games on the PS4.

While the original trilogy was remastered for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, this is the first time that Jak X will be available since its original release in 2005. If you've never played the Jak and Daxter series and would like to see what Naughty Dog was responsible for before it tackled the Uncharted series, this will be your best chance.
