Country stars Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley played a cover of Berry's classic "Johnny B. Goode" in a trio with guitarist Joe Walsh of country-influenced rock all-stars the Eagles.

The Academy of Country Music Awards are one of two top prizes in the genre along with the Country Music Association Awards.

David Copperfield and TV host Nancy O'Dell presented the award for Song of the Year, but first announced the award went to Emma Stone for "La La Land".

Miranda Lambert put her heart and soul into her latest record, The Weight of These Wings, and the dedication paid off as she took home the gold with the ACM Album of the Year Award.

Miranda Lambert also had a top-notch performance: She earned a standing ovation after she sang the slow, acoustic-sounding "Tin Man" as the crowd watched along seriously while she hit all the right notes and strummed her guitar. The true victor was Thomas Rhett for "Die a Happy Man". He will compete for album of the year, song of the year with "Blue Ain't Your Color" and male vocalist of the year.

- Video of the year: "Forever Country", Artists of Then, Now & Forever.

- Male vocalist of the year: Thomas Rhett.

Other performers during the show are Reba McEntire, Rhett, Ballerini, Brothers Osborne, Cole Swindell and Jon Pardi. So, naturally it was cause for celebration when he was able to take home a huge Male Vocalist honor, as well as recognition for the song he co-wrote about his wife, Lauren Akins, who is now pregnant with the couple's first child (with a second on the way via adoption).

- Vocal group of the year: Little Big Town.

"I just wanna be in Lady Antebellum's band", Little Big Town's Kimberly Schlapman yelled.
