The Coalition helps coordinate the efforts of over 70 agencies across the Pikes Peak region to prevent child abuse. They spent more than two years investigating protective factors and doing hundreds of interviews with experts, practitioners, and parents on how to keep children safe.

Marisol Espinoza, executive director for Harmony Home, said that while 2016 showed a decline in the number of child abuse cases in Ector County, the figures was still above the state average.

The Madison County Child Advocacy Center will display the numbers of children involved in investigations of abuse and who have been interviewed at the center past year, with blue and pink paper silhouettes poignantly representing each child.

If buying child supplies isn't up your alley, the Child Protection Team is hosting another fundraiser called "Koins for Kids Quarter Craze" on Thursday, April 6th.

"I want them to understand how important what we do is", Clark explained.

"In (fiscal 2015), 255 Adams County children were the victims of abuse and neglect", she said.

"The ministry of keeping kids safe is critical to the Church, and it's not just something that we do because a charter tells us that we have to". Caregivers will learn to understand how the connection between the adults in a child's life and promoting healthy behaviors in a non-shaming way can reduce the child's risk for abuse.
