15 shot, one dead at Cincinnati nightclub

The nightclub where the Cincinnati shooting incident happened is a popular hangout place for young people from around the region.

Local television station WLWT reported several of the victims have life-threatening injuries, and that officials have not said whether anyone is in custody.

There was no indication the shooting was terror-related, Assistant Police Chief Paul Neudigate said on Twitter.

Police believe there was only one gunman, although they are still investigating whether others may have been involved, Neudigate said.

The coroner removed a body shortly after 6am.

Franz said victims were taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, The Christ Hospital, Bethesda North Hospital, Mercy West Hospital and Anderson Mercy Hospital.

Several victims were undergoing surgery, Cincinnati Police Sgt. Eric Franz told CNN Sunday morning.

The motive behind the shooting in the nightclub in Cincinnati is still unclear.

Of the 15 people who were shot, one was reported killed.

She described a chaotic scene with club-goers hitting the ground or trying to escape the building.

Several local men got into a dispute inside the bar which escalated into shots from several individuals, said Mr Isaac, adding that several firearms were got inside despite security.

Some of those who were shot drove themselves to area hospitals and others were taken by ambulance. Off-duty police officers are reportedly employed at the facility as security. "We have had incidents here in the past, but. this is the worst by far", she told reporters.

The shooting comes less than a year after a lone gunman burst into a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, killing 49 people.

On certain nights the club admits people age 18 and above.
