Arnold Palmer Invitational tee times and pairings: Round 3

Saunders says the tough part was seeing Palmer's cart stationed off the 16th tee.

"Obviously, I'm disappointed", Saunders said. Just to see it sitting there empty, yeah, that's hard.

In the six months since Palmer's death, Saunders has often taken on the role of public face of his family. His 4-iron landed an inch from the hole and nicked the pin on the par-3 17th.

The Northern Irishman was one under through nine, but he bogeyed the 10th before finding a bunker and water at the next for a double bogey.

Even so, it was a big day. Several players capitalized, led by 22-year-old Englishman Matthew Fitzpatrick, who matched Grillo's 67.

The PGA Tour still orchestrated the draw so that he would be in the featured group in the afternoon with Rory McIlroy and Brandt Snedeker. A victory this week would mark his first since last April in the Valero Texas Open and the fifth of his PGA Tour career.

David Hearn of Brantford, Ont., was also at 2 under while Graham DeLaet of Weyburn, Sask., finished 4 over. Saunders, the King's 29-year-old grandson, could sense it.

"Anything under par in the morning was great", Day said.

"How can you not?"

"I felt like it was in there, it was just a matter of trying to put it all together and today I did". "It always will be". The nostalgic black and white vignette of Mr. Palmer on the course is accented with his iconic signatureand an open golf umbrella in red, yellow, white and greenhis company logo since 1961. They were on shirt collars and caps, golf bags and even the covers of fairway metals.

Grillo made the most of it.

His first two went in the water before he hit the green with his third one. That included a 50-foot birdie putt on No. 9 and a 40-foot birdie putt on No. 17.

"I scrambled really well", Fitzpatrick said.

'In the long run I would love to play more over here as well as keeping my place in Europe but that's something to figure out hopefully if I can get my tour card over here'.

The amusing thing is, he wasn't exactly planning to play this year. "I didn't feel quite as in control of the golf ball as I did yesterday but I made a couple of good putts coming in and made a good score". "They did some spectacular job this year honouring him". And he'd follow with a birdie at the next hole.

Leishman heads the Australians, the Victorian making a significant move on day two to finish just three shots from Hoffman's lead and in a share of fourth position.
