Ex-Power Ranger Ricardo Medina pleads guilty in murder of roommate

Ricardo Medina Jr built a reputation owing to his portrayal of the character Red Lion Wild Force Ranger in the children's TV show "Power Rangers Wild Force".

Sutter was stabbed in the abdomen with a "Conan the Barbarian-style" sword, TMZ reported a year ago.

Before being released from jail past year pending an investigation, Medina told KTLA News he was "very, very, very sorry for what had occurred". If he had gone to trial and been convicted, Medina would have faced 26 years to life in prison.

Medina is set to be sentenced on March 30, which coincidentally is just six days after the new "Power Rangers" movie opens in theaters.

The stabbing occurred on January 31, 2015, when the pair got into an argument over Medina's girlfriend.

In January, 2016 he was re-arrested and charged with one count of murder. The DA did, however, ask the LA County Sheriff's Department to continue their investigation into the incident, ABC7 reported.

What began as an argument over Medina's girlfriend ended with Medina fatally stabbing Sutter, the prosecution said in a statement. Roommates at the time, the men were in an argument over Ricardo's girlfriend before the situation escalated and became violent. Afterward, Medina called 911, waited for police and was arrested when they arrived. "Why did you make me do this?" He returned to the brand, which had been bought back from Disney by Haim Saban, in 2011 for Power Rangers Samurai.

Outside of the popular franchise, he appeared on CSI: Miami and ER.
