Uber Driver's SUV Crashes into Gas Station, Explodes in Ball of Flames

Witnesses on a bus reportedly saw the SUV speed past them, then clip a Honda Accord before going airborne over a curb, and finally hitting the gas pumps.

The P-I reported that the Honda went sideways into a tree that cut his auto in half, and that the victim was trapped in the vehicle.

The Nissan continued for about two more blocks before it crashed into a gas pump at a Shell station, ripping it off, causing an explosion and a fire. According to the gas station manager, he hopes to have half of the pumps up and running by the end of the day Tuesday.

An SUV came careening through a gas station Monday night, and barreled into a gas pump, sending flames into the air.

Meanwhile, if you're looking for a gas station attendant in Seattle, we can think of one or two who are now in need of a new job.

The 35-year-old driver of the Accord was trapped inside the auto as a result of the crash. Once freed, he was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The man was traveling north on Holman Road in a 1997 Honda Accord when he was hit by a 2007 Nissan Xterra, also headed north, being driven by a 60-year-old Uber driver.

A sample of the Uber driver's blood was taken at the hospital after police issued him a warrant. The company says it will work with the Seattle Police Department during its investigation into the accident.
