Falcons Agree to Terms With DT Dontari Poe

Poe ultimately ended up signing with the Falcons on a one-year, $8 million deal that can end up being a $10 million deal if other incentives are reached.

Maybe Dontari Poe and the Kansas City Chiefs just weren't a great fit. According to another report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Poe has inked a one-year contract worth $8 million. By joining the Falcons, Poe is reunited with the general manager who first selected him, Scott Pioli.

Poe, 26, took multiple free-agent visits over the last week, traveling to Indianapolis, Atlanta, Jacksonville and Miami.

Chiefs fans don't wish any ill will towards Poe. The 346-pound Poe has collected 202 tackles, 13 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 78 career contests.

But he had back surgery to fix a herniated disk in the summer of 2015. "He will add to our defensive line group and will mix nicely with (Vic) Beasley, (Grady) Jarrett, Shelby and (Adrian) Clayborn".

In 2016, Poe didn't miss a snap as he recorded a career-high nine pressures in 885 snaps, 16th-most among all National Football League defensive linemen, to go along with 27 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks. Interestingly, all three of his touchdowns have come on offense as he has 2 rushing TD's and 1 passing TD. The nose tackle frequently made plays in both the pass and run games, whether by commanding double-teams to set up his teammates for easy sacks, plugging up the running lanes or bursting through the line to record a tackle for loss.
