Illinois State coach Dan Muller rants on Twitter about NCAA snub

Illinois State coach Dan Muller may be taking the tack that if you can't beat 'em, troll 'em. "They are one of the 20 best teams in country".

Illinois State put together a pretty good NCAA tournament resume but the Redbirds were ultimately left on the outside looking in due to a weak non-conference slate.

Illinois State appears to have a head coach that is committed to moving the program forward.

Muller's frustrations speak to a common problem among mid-major teams, as the selection committee often denies at-large bids to teams from smaller conferences.

But teams like Illinois State are stuck, becuase power five teams don't want to risk playing a game (especially a road game) against mid majors like the Redbirds.

Muller was a lot more direct on Sunday: "It is idiotic to me".

So Muller tweeted a plea to schools in the Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, SEC, Pac 12 and Big East: "It's me again". MS athletic director Ross Bjork said he and coach Andy Kennedy were surely interested. The Rebels have coaching ties to former associate coach Torrey Ward, who was one of seven passengers who died in a tragic plane crash in 2015.

Muller later tweeted that a matchup between Illinois State and Ole Miss is on the way, as long as the future dates can be settled on.

"I've got to ill will towards anybody I just think the system is a little broke and I hope it gets fixed before it gets any worse", Muller declared.
