UCLA graduate programs earn high rankings from US News & World Report

The UCLA Anderson School of Management, UCLA School of Law and UCLA School of Nursing tied for No. 15 among business schools, law schools and nursing schools, respectively.

Cornell Law School ranked 13th overall for the fifth straight year.

UM's Medical School finished in the top-10 this year in both the primary care ranking (no. 5), while also ranking among the top research institutions (tied at no. 9).

Texas A&M joins other Texas law schools in the top 100.

Indiana University Maurer School of Law stayed on the roller coaster.

UC San Diego's Division of Social Sciences departments in political science (ranked 9th) economics (ranked 12th) and psychology (ranked 13th) were lauded as some of the top programs in the nation.

CSU's Professional Veterinary Medicine Program, its vet school, is now ranked No. 3 in the nation, based on the most recent ranking in 2015 by U.S. News and World Report; it has held a spot among the top three vet schools for at least two decades.

The Pratt School of Engineering was in a tie for 29th among the nation's top graduate programs in that field (up from 30th last year), and tied for sixth in the specialty category of Biomedical/Bioengineering. The Bloomington school sank to 34 place in 2016 then leaped to the 25 slot in the 2017 rankings.

For the business, law, medicine, education and engineering rankings, U.S. News also incorporated feedback from hiring managers who assessed how well those programs prepared students for the working world. The UW was also noteworthy for its biomedical/bioengineering program (ranked 10th) and its computer science program (9th). Of those, six were ranked first: higher education administration, nuclear engineering, behavioral neuroscience, experimental psychology, archives and preservation, and information systems.

The Tickle College of Engineering graduate program is now 33rd among public universities, up three spots from a year ago. Data from peer assessment in other areas is collected on a rotating basis.

In addition to the main program rankings, U-M was rated on 54 specialties. Indiana Tech Law School, which has provisional accreditation but has announced plans to close in June, was not included in the rankings. "It is truly gratifying to know that the high value of our MBA degree is recognized at a national level".

Goizueta Business School's full-time M.B.A. program was 20th, its part-time M.B.A. program 25th.
