IPhone 8 could be called "iPhone Edition", with price upwards of $1000

Rumors have been pointing to-depending on your interpretation-a curved surface for the iPhone 8 display.

Another feature that is expected from the iPhone 8 / Edition is wireless charging. Among those that plan to purchase the iPhone X, 26% indicate an interest in AR features compared to 16% among those that don't plan to purchase the iPhone X. This could be driven by the simple correlation between early adopters of iPhones and early adopters of new technology, like AR.

He writes "the fire at ST Micro's fab in Crolles, France does not affect the CMOS sensor capacity for the iPhone 8's 3D sensing module, but would affect the microprocessor that has been used by Samsung [Electronics (005930KS)] and Apple for the camera module".

Curved glass sounds sexy, but I think Mr. Lam nailed it and Apple is taking a more practical approach to increasing the iPhone 8's display. According to Loup Ventures founder and Apple expert Gene Munster, this year's model may be the most important iPhone for Apple shareholders in years. This would be a first for the iPhone, despite rival Samsung having utilised the technology for years. Most analysts expect Apple to release in September, the 4.7-inch Apple iPhone 7s, the 5.5-inch Apple iPhone 7s Plus and the 5.8-inch Apple iPhone 8.

The main point is this: Apple appears to have an exciting product cycle ahead of it as it introduces the premium OLED iPhone alongside what are expected to be refreshed versions of the current iPhone 7/7 Plus designs.

Reportedly, to celebrate it's 10th year anniversary, Apple will launch the iPhone Edition.

The last year's survey was conducted when the iPhone 7 was just two months away. "Apple will instead focus on a brand new iPhone experience.we anticipate that Apple will adopt a flat implementation of OLED design on their special model."* For the record, Samsung uses curved OLED displays on the Galaxy S7 Edge and the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7. As of now, the rumored variants are being prototyped without any keys including the home button at the bottom of the screen.

Apple's supply chain is preparing to make 45 million to 60 million iPhone 8 handsets, making up about 50% of total volumes, in the second half of 2017, Kvaal said.

Apart from the display, the report mentioned that the other known features are the dual-lens camera setup and the support for wireless charging.

The good news is that worries about the suggested retail price of the iPhone 8 could be whittled down a bit.

Munster anticipates the fresh AR-related features on the next-level iPhone will be demand-drivers, quite possibly impacting AR "in a very big way".
