Washington CB Jones injured on Pro Day

Cornerback Sidney Jones was carted off with an apparent left leg injury Saturday at Washington's pro day.

For many prospects their school's pro day is one of their last chances to leave a positive impression on National Football League scouts and general managers before the draft at the end of April.

During one of his last defensive back drills at the University of Washington's pro day, Jones hurt himself and went to the ground.

"It's really tough, just because Sidney's one of our best friends, all of our best friends, (and) he's a great prospect coming out", Baker said. Any nerve damage could push him even further down draft boards. "The last drill. The last thing you've got to do, and that happens". Over 39 games in his career with the Huskies, the rangy defensive back tallied nine interceptions and 30 passes defended.

Jones was a three-year starter at Washington who declared for the draft after his junior season. He lifted the bar 12 times during the bench press after not competing in this event at the combine, where he was clocked at 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash. "I think I did a pretty good job of showcasing that I can get in and out of my breaks".

One team that could afford to take a chance on Jones earlier than that is the Cleveland Browns, who own four picks in the first two rounds of this year's draft.
