'Middle-Earth: Shadow of War' - Gameplay Reveal and Walkthrough

Warner Bros. has released the first gameplay trailer for Middle-Earth: Shadow of War.

In this case, the orc the player faces bears a personal grudge as he was part of Talion's army before he betrayed him and joined the Dark Lord.

Witness firsthand the next generation of the innovative Nemesis System.

He employs siege beasts and flame archers to protect his fortress from Talion's army forces. Ur-Hakon the overlord of the fortress of Seregost for example is a unique enemy based on a user's gameplay, while the fortress itself will also have qualities that are unique for each player. As his enemy falls to his ultimate demise, Talion's Demolisher buddy on the ground transforms the fortress gates into a pile of toothpicks.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is an open world action RPG that takes place between the events of The Hobbit and those of The Lord of the Rings and continues the original story of the Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Now players can take control of dragons, and fly in the air while lobbing balls of fire at the enemies below.

With those two dispatched, Talion takes on the stronghold's overlord.

It's interesting to note this particular battle will play out differently for everyone depending on how which at orcs you recruited and how you prepared for the assault. If the system is as dynamic and organic as Monolith Productions suggest it will be, this could be a very interesting addition to the sequel.

The unsung hero Ragdug Iron Mount is promoted - which helps to shape a distinct new fortress which benefits from his looting abilities.

The Nemesis System seeps down into the entire culture of the evil-doers residing in and around their domains.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War seems to be a bigger sequel over the previous title, and if this gameplay reveal shows anything, it's that it's going to be more intense and gory than ever.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 22 in North America and August 25 in Europe.
