Manchester United has become the first team in Premier League history to win 2000 points.

Jose Mourinho has again aimed a jibe at old club Chelsea in the wake of Manchester United's 2-0 win over Watford.

Goals from Juan Mata and Anthony Martial secured the victory that also stretched United's unbeaten league run to 16 matches, with their last defeat coming in the 4-0 thrashing by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The player shone brightly when he arrived from Monaco but has struggled to recapture that form this term, with his lack of game time leading to questions over his happiness and Old Trafford future.

The hosts attacked in waves early on and only great saves by Watford keeper Heurelho Gomes from Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic kept them out.

Speaking about Martial after the game, Mourinho said: "People sometimes forget that these teams like Watford and Stoke have very good players". I think it is the kind of football that if instead of being a Mourinho team it is somebody else's team you would say "art" but because it is my team you just say it's very good, but that is fine.

United, whose best known players include Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, are now sixth in the 20-team English Premier League and have reached the League Cup final.

Napoli and clubs in China and the United States have been linked with the former Paris Saint-Germain striker in recent days, but Mourinho is confident he will remain in United red next season.

"Hopefully if I stay fit and keep playing well the it well be at Manchester United because there is no better club to be at".

Alexis Sanchez scored both goals but his opener in the first half caused controversy after the ball rebounded off his arm from close range.

Watford's best chance of the game, and one they really needed to take if they wanted to give themselves any chance of salvaging anything, fell to substitute Daryl Janmaat who should have tapped home M'Baye Niang's far post cross, but he wastefully missed the target.

Last season's FA Cup is the only major trophy United had to show for the subsequent three seasons, with the 20-time Premier League champions even failing to qualify for the Champions League in two of those campaigns.

"He knows we are going to try again to improve next season and try to share with him in a fantastic way probably the a year ago of his career at the highest level".
