Delhi: Two cops injured in shootout with wanted Criminal in Nehru place

Delhi Police has arrested a hardened criminal by the name of Akbar, who has a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head, near Nehru Place Metro Station after a scary shootout.

In the shootout, two personnel were also injured. The criminal, identified as Akbar, was arrested after the shootout, ANI reported. Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation to nab Asif.

Two policemen were shot, but they were not injured due to their bullet proof jackets.

"The police teams started following them".

The incident happened when the police team, on a tip of, tried to stop the criminals. Some reports say that he was there with an aide.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Romil Baaniya, the police retaliated as the criminals initiated firing to avoid their arrest.

"After the shootout near Nehru Place Metro Station, Akbar, was arrested, while Asif managed to escape", he said.

The officer said that Akbar was a notorious robber and snatcher.

Akbar, who carries a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head, was in the wanted list of the Delhi Police.
