Frontier adding service from ABIA to San Diego, Washington DC

Frontier Airlines will soon be adding three new nonstop flights to the Cincinnati region's airport.

The Austin-San Diego (SAN) route will begin April 23, and operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

The flights will begin in this spring with introductory fares as low as $29. Flights will run Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. The Minneapolis flight, which also begins April 21, will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday on a 150-seat A319 aircraft.

Frontier's introductory fare offer, available now, will be valid for travel April 21 through June 6, 2017, on Monday through Thursday and Saturday, depending on the destination.

Frontier officials will be at Cleveland Hopkins this afternoon to celebrate the new service announcement. Tickets went on sale this morning. Frontier also becomes CVG's fourth largest carrier in terms of daily flights and second largest carrier in terms of seats offered.

Frontier, known in industry as an ultra-low cost carrier, has been on a growth spurt in Cleveland, adding eight new destinations in the past year (one of those destinations, Philadelphia, has since been discontinued).

Look for the legacy carriers to drop their fares in response. "This success would not have been possible without the support of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky community".

Currently, there's no nonstop service from CVG to San Diego.
