The X-Files: FOX Close to Finalizing Deal for More Episodes

David Madden, president of Entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, told reporters at Wednesday's Television Critics Association winter previews that there have been talks about continuing the revival on the network, but due to the "complicated nature" of those conversations, there's nothing concrete yet.

There's good news for all the "X-Files" fans out there.

There's a big chance that the tandem of Mulder and Scully will be back on 2018 for the season 11 of "X-Files".

Fox executives have been clear about wanting to continue the popular X-Files revival, but so far, a second season has yet to be officially confirmed. "A lot of conversations are going on - as you can imagine, these conversations are complex", Madden says, Deadline Hollywood reports. That's our goal", Madden said of the episode count, adding, "I think the ideal is to get it ready for '18.

It was in 2016 when David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reunited to play the characters of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

News of "The X-Files" return comes hot on the heels of a confirmed air date for a fellow "90s telly classic, 'Twin Peaks", set to screen on Showtime in the U.S. on May 21, and on Sky Atlantic in the United Kingdom two days later. Many are of course hoping for more episodes and a conclusion to the cliffhanger that ended season 10.

Madden also said that it's expected the next season would be longer than the six episode run the show had previous year, though still not approaching a full 22-episode season.
