Clowney, Texans headed to postseason after win over Bengals

The Texans could have clinched the AFC South with a win and a Titans loss, but with Tennessee beating Jacksonville, Houston just has to win to hold serve.

The Houston Texans made a risky move when they pulled Brock Osweiler last week and then stuck with Tom Savage to make his first start.

After the first thirty minutes of the Texans' 12-10 victory over the Bengals, he'd completed 2-of-7 passes for 13 yards, was sacked three times, and his team trailed 3-0.

Christmas Eve features a special Saturday night contest between the Houston Texans and the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Bengals came into the game with the fewest penalty yards in the league and they were tied for the second-fewest accepted penalties. "They kept us in the game".

Instead, the much-anticipated Savage vs. Matt Cassel duel is now just for fun because revenge is never best served wide right.

Green needs just 36 receiving yards to eclipse 1,000 on the year, a milestone he's achieved every year since joining the league in 2011. The Texans insist they aren't thinking about any other team this week and are simply focused on themselves.

Dalton finished with 268 yards passing with a touchdown and an interception.

Osweiler signed a four-year, $72 million contract with the Texans this offseason, though only two years and $37 million is guaranteed.

"I think it makes you a stronger team, he said".

Savage was happy with the win, but wants to put the ball in the end zone a few times per game.

Although he said that he felt ready to play recently, the Bengals are not on the same terms. "I'll have to shake it off and go forward and finish up the season strong with Baltimore".

Lamar Miller missed his first game this season because of an ankle injury and Blue had 73 yards rushing in his place.

This was Savage's first career National Football League start after he replaced Brock Osweiler at quarterback last week.

Margus Hunt blocked the extra point to keep the deficit at two, and Andy Dalton drove the Bengals into position for a game-winning field goal.

Green had missed the last four games with a hamstring injury but said earlier this week that he planned to play against Houston.

KICKING WOES: The Bengals have had problems with their kicking game all season.
