The warning is in effect starting 6 p.m. Saturday and lasts until 12 a.m. on December 12.

Farther north, the Saginaw, Bay City and Midland areas, including the Thumb, were not under the Winter Watch, but are still expected to get from 4 to 7 inches of snow by late Sunday night, the Weather Service said. Light snow will start tonight becoming moderate Sunday then possibly mixing with rain late Sunday and Sunday night before ending late Sunday night.

McHenry County is under a winter weather advisory from 3 p.m. today to 6 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

- Snow through Sunday evening, before tapering off early Monday. In the Catskills, the snow could accumulate as much as three to five inches. Areas along Highway 34 may be too warm for plain snow... you are the most likely to see a rain/snow mix around those locations.

Weather officials are advising caution on the roads with reduced visibility.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties.

Timing: Snow is possible from 8 pm cst this evening through Sunday evening.
