Grammy Nominations 2017: Adele and Beyonce Reign

Her two nominations at the 2017 Grammy Awards are Clark's fifth and sixth Grammys nods; previously, she's been nominated for Best Country Song twice, for Best Country Album and for the all-genre Best New Artist trophy.

The pop star is the leader of the 2017 Grammys with nine nominations, including bids for album of the year with Lemonade, and song and record of the year with Formation.

Neil Portnow, President and CEO of the Recording Academy, commented: "I usually don't shout out artists, but if you look at Beyonce, you see a rock performance, a rap-sung performance, a music film, a video, urban contemporary, song of the year".

Drake, Rihanna and Kanye West all earned eight nominations, while Chance the Rapper picked up seven.

Chart-topping albums from Drake and Justin Bieber are in the running for several of the major Grammy categories this year, including album of the year.

The Record of the Year nominees were: Adele (Hello); Beyonce (Formation); Lukas Graham (7 Years); Rihanna featuring Drake (Work); Twenty One Pilots (Stressed Out).

The other best new artist nominees are Maren Morris, The Chainsmokers, Anderson.Paak and Kelsea Ballerini.

She's competing against Justin Bieber ("Purpose") and fan favorites Ariana Grande ("Dangerous Woman"), Sia ("This is Acting), and Demi Lovato, who earned her first Grammy nomination for "Confident".

In all three of those categories, she faces off against Adele, who won all three prizes back in 2012 and released her newest album 25 just over a year ago.

The list of Grammy nominees includes at least one sentimental nod, with the late David Bowie nominated for best alternative music album for his release "Blackstar".

The Grammys will air live from Los Angeles" Staples Center on February 12th and will be hosted by "The Late Late Show' host, James Corden. He's also nominated in the best rap song category with Drake for "Hotline Bling". So without further ado, allow me to present the Grammy Award Nomination Awards. The Recording Academy started the awards in 1959.

The biggest surprise for Album of the Year was "A Sailor's Guide to Earth" by Sturgill Simpson, a country singer who has won a high-brow audience with abstract lyricism including meditations on Tibetan Buddhism. Of these, the topline face-off is between Adele and Beyoncé, mega-famous pop divas who in the past year came to sharpen the distinctions between themselves-and between the different kinds of ambitions that can shape culture.

"The head of my record label (Island Records) called me pretty early, and I didn't pick up 'cause I was still kind of sleepy", Posner, 28 - who's nominated for his single "I Took A Pill In Ibiza" from his sophomore album "At Night, Alone", which came out May 6 - recalled on Tuesday afternoon, December 6.
