Field Days, Uh, Nights, for Colts in 41-10 Romp Over Jets

On Monday Night Football this week against the New York Jets, Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was at the very top of his game.

On Monday night, the Indianapolis Colts pulled apart the New York Jets limb by limb during their 41-10 victory.

The Colts have won three of the last four - Luck sat out the Pittsburgh loss with a concussion - and it's imperative they make it four of the last five when the Texans visit. "I'd been meaning to tell him and I got tied up with a few things", the coach said Tuesday.

Wilkerson looked good after missing practice: Muhammad Wilkerson has been dealing with issues since his January surgery to fix a broken leg.

"I didn't get it done", said Fitzpatrick, who will transition to full-time mentor to Petty and rookie Christian Hackenberg. "We know how big that game is", Luck said. The Jets were out-gained 144-29 in an embarrassing opening quarter, but Johnson's paying customers barely had enough energy to boo.

The Jets are a complete mess, especially at quarterback as Ryan Fitzpatrick and Bryce Petty combined to go 16 of 37 for 216 yards with three interceptions and a fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Robby Anderson.

So was New York's special-teams unit.

Fitzpatrick, in what could be his last appearance on the field in a Jets uniform, was 5 of 12 for 81 yards with a pick. Their first blowout win began with Dwayne Allen, whose three touchdown catches, all in the first half, were more than he had all season. I'm sure there are some people who showed up, but for the most part, we got our ass kicked.

The Colts seemed to gamble by deciding to hold off on having their bye until Week 10 instead of right after the Week 4 London game. The Jets should be able to steal a couple of games, even with Petty, who has one career start. The tight end couldn't have been more open on his first two TDs, and Luck sent a ideal pass his way on the third. The Colts would be in first place in the division with a win over Houston, because they'd have swept the season series with Tennessee. "I just want to be out there playing". Bryce Petty wasn't much better, going 11-for-25 for 135 yards, one TD and two picks. Same for Petty. The players in the locker room had no idea of the change until informed by reporters.

Indianapolis will travel back home for a Week 14 matchup against a divisional foe in the Houston Texans. "We had a one-game playoff tonight, and we'll have a one-game playoff next weekend". This includes the 0-12 Cleveland Browns, the 1-11 San Francisco 49ers and the 3-9 Chicago Bears.

Right now, the way the Jets are playing, it nearly feels like they should be awarded the number two pick simply for not being the Cleveland Browns. While there was an initial thought that Thomas could return if the Seahawks made a deep run in the playoffs, Carroll said further examination on Monday determined the recovery for the fractured tibia is too extensive for the star safety to make it back this season.
