Jose: Of course Schweini can stay, he is the 'powerful one'

United moved into the semi-finals of the EFL Cup on Wednesday with an impressive 4-1 victory over West Ham United but their league form is poor.

He came on to a huge round of applause from the home fans, whom he thanked afterwards for their support during his Old Trafford exile.

On Friday afternoon, Jose Mourinho finally suggested that Schweinsteiger's resurgence was complete, stating that he liked the German and could easily see him staying with the club beyond the January transfer window.

"If you have a contract with the club you are the powerful one that can decide your future".

"Okay, so in the summer we try to make something happen for Bastian to get a different future". Mourinho, famously dubbed the "Special One" during his time at Chelsea, is calling Schweinsteiger the "Powerful One". He worked for that and deserved the happiness of the last match... Packing his bags for, say, the MLS in January may feel harder to do after months of working so hard to restore his place in the first-team squad at Old Trafford. He understands our dynamic and philosophy.

"He is so happy and so proud with his effort and determination", added Mourinho, who was impressed by Schweinsteiger s professionalism during his spell out of the team. "Still we are in a good position in the table and, if somebody had said to me at the beginning of the season that Everton at the beginning of December will be seventh and if they beat Manchester United we will go sixth, I would be happy".

"I am always expecting this, especially because we are playing so well", manager Jose Mourinho told MUTV, the team's official website.

"Everybody was happy because when he was not training he fought against that and managed to do it without injury". So he was continuously working for a month. But one player who won't be available is Wayne Rooney.

Mourinho will be back in the dugout at Goodison Park after serving his second touchline ban of the season in the West Ham match.

"His future is about this". He is another one in the squad, and he's working to have more chances.

Martial doubled his tally for this season with two goals against West Ham and looks to be responding to some pointed comments by Mourinho in the British media.

"He s working. He s working harder than before to be honest", said Mourinho of Martial.

"I think it can help because as an attacking player you can play very, very well, but if you don't score goals the happiness is not there, so hopefully it helps him".
