First Alert Forecast: Scattered rain showers possible today!

With the clouds and rain around, temperatures will stay on the cool side - afternoon highs both weekend days will stay in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Highs will be in the 40s tomorrow-Thursday.

Gusty winds and noticeably cooler temperatures are expected today, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Carrieann Marit said.

Our weekend features a brisk a mix of sun and clouds, with seasonable temperatures in the 30s north to 40s south. Snow showers will continue in the far northern mountains. There will be another storm system to watch for the end of next week too. Although the clouds may keep temperatures a few degrees warmer if there are no breaks, and the wind may not be as calm which could also keep temperatures a tad bit warmer.

First Alert Forecast: Scattered rain showers possible today!

Showers early Wednesday afternoon become heavy rain by sunset and that continues through midnight. In the Southeast, rain will aid wildfire containment efforts and provide much-needed moisture for drought-stricken pastures. Saturday and Sunday's rains could be chilly as highs may struggle to 60 degrees. Temperatures will be above normal with lows in the mid 50s and highs near 70.

Rain should begin to clear out by late in the day Sunday, and we get more sunshine for the start of next week. There is one model indicating we could have light rain Monday with the other one dry.
