Gigi Hadid apologizes for Melania Trump impression at AMAs

People are even calling Gigi racist for her impression of Slovenian Melania.

Melania Trump's nearly similar victory speech supporting her husband's presidency that has allegedly plagiarized outgoing First Lady, Michelle Obama's speech - when it was her time during her husband's assuming the highest post in the land prompted the joke but was criticized heavily on social media.

Gigi Hadid's impression of Melania Trump on the AMAs stage did not go down well with supporters of president-elect Donald Trump on social media.

Jelena Noura "Gigi" Hadid was born in 1995 and is one of the most popular models in the U.S. She signed with IMG Models back in 2013 and today she is considered as one of the top models of the country and named Model of the Year by Daily Front Row. She made fun of her distinct accent and doll-like features particularly the blinking of the eyes, pouting lips and her whole being.

Hadid shared a handwritten apology note on her Twitter account Monday evening.

"Gigi is what she claims to hate", one tweet read.

The model finished her note by adding: "I too have been the center of a nationally televised comedy skit that poked fun at my actions, and was able to find the humor in it. And our children Sasha and Malia".

Directly addressing Melania, who will become First Lady of America in January, Gigi wrote: "I believe Melania understands show business and the way shows are written and run."

Hadid co-hosted the awards with former "Saturday Night Live" impressionist Jay Pharaoh.

"At the AMA'S we exaggerated a SPEECH THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED, where Melania CLEARLY PLAGIARIZED (cause that was the joke) didn't call her ugly, manish, or anything, and everybody LOSES IT?!"
