Grandma accidentally invites stranger to Thanksgiving

The exchange has so far been retweeted over 180,000 times, and the grandma was forced to change her cell phone number.

After receiving the photo of "grandma", he quickly realized this lovely old lady was not his beloved grammy.

"I thought it was either a wrong number or my grandma learned how to use a phone correctly", Hinton told NBC News.

Jamil told BuzzFeed that he thought it was HIS grandma, but asked for a photo to verify.

Dench said after she recovered from the embarrassment of sending a selfie to a complete stranger, she decided she should respond. "You not my grandma", he replied, though he couldn't help but teasingly ask, "Can I still get a plate tho?" The woman has since changed her number, but her grandson has kept in touch with Hinton, even giving him her new number. Then, still confused but not undaunted, Hinton texted, "Can I get a plate tho?"

Apparently, the Phoenix-based teen was included in a group text message in which he received an invited to Thanksgiving dinner along with two other people, "Amanda" and "Justin".

She said she would because "that's what grandmas do....feed everyone".

Hinton, 17, jokingly responded: "you not my grandma".

Wanda's answer made his day: "Of course you can".

It turns out "Grandma" is Wanda and she lives in Mesa, according to her 24-year-old grandson, Brandon Burgoyne.

"I was like, 'hmm, should I really go?", Hinton said. "Any other person would probably blow me off, and be like, 'No, never text my number again, ' but she was actually pretty nice and sweet about it".

"We would open our doors for them to come for holiday meals because I think that is what Thanksgiving is really about", Dench said.
