Brangelina part ways as Jolie files for divorce

The actor's wife Angelina Jolie filed for divorce on Monday (19Sep16), citing irreconcilable differences, and now the Fight Club star has released a statement further confirming the news.

The separation date is listed as September 15; Jolie Pitt and Pitt were legally married August 14, 2014, and followed that up on August 23 with a nondenominational ceremony held at their chateau in Provence, France, after a two-year engagement. "She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time", attorney Robert Offer said in the statement. She sought full physical custody of their six children and Pitt asked for visitation rights.

Brad and Ange - Brangelina as they are famously known - have six children together; sons Maddox, Pax and Knox, and daughters Zahara, Shiloh and Vivienne.

It was Pitt's second marriage, having previously Wednesday Friends star Jennifer Aniston, and Jolie's third after Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller.

Not too long ago, the couple offered us pieces of marriage advice that helped to keep their marriage alive. She doesn't want her husband to have physical custody because she doesn't approve of the extreme ways he parents the children.

Last year, the two discussed their first film together in 10 years with TODAY: "By the Sea", which Jolie directed and produced as well as starred in along with Pitt.

She will be represented in the divorce proceedings by Laura Wasser, who is representing Johnny Depp in his divorce from Amber Heard and worked with Jolie on a previous split. "They just celebrated their wedding anniversary together". And love, as we know it, has died.

In fact, Jolie even admitted in an interview earlier this year that filming "By The Sea" almost destroyed her marriage. Sources say that Jolie "barely eats, she guzzles wine every night and she smokes constantly".
