Microsoft Skype, Cortana, OneNote mods for Cyanogen OS 13.1 start rolling out

Microsoft announced this week that Cyanogen OS 13.1 is now rolling out to the OnePlus One with a bunch of Microsoft "mods" that tweak some of the default software on the phone.

This update for the device is the Cynogen OS and not CyanogenMod because both are different things. It is baked into the Phone app in Cyanogen 13.1.

As we mentioned, for the sake of privacy and security, Lock Screen Mods need to be enabled separately from Settings Lock Screen Lock Screen Mods. Mods give you a way to make your smartphone uniquely yours, welcome to the post-app era. Now apps like Twitter, Skype, OneNote, Cortana, and Microsoft Hyperlapse are included in to the Mod scheme.

With the updated Cortana mod, users can tell Cortana to "take a selfie", giving you a voice-controlled, hands-free automatic countdown for capturing a picture. All a user has to do is wake up their device, swipe left, and the full screen Twitter experience will start, without a user having to open the app separately. Once snapped, you can quickly review the photo and easily share it right from the filmstrip. You can search, set reminders, get to your schedule and more without ever unlocking your phone or opening an app.

The majority of MODs is Now Microsoft services and features, but that won't always be the case.

OneNote is also deeply integrated into the operating system with a dedicated mod, so you can perform tasks such saving an email as a note, taking a note while in a call and have everything saved automatically without the need for any other input. In the Email app, you can easily save an important email to OneNote for future reference.

The Microsoft Hyperlapse mod for Camera allows you to create smooth and stabilized time-lapse videos. Users will have the option to take and add notes when in the middle of a phone call. This will also work with existing videos on your device.
