Microsoft Announces Skype Universal Windows Platform App Preview for Windows 10

I asked Microsoft officials whether the coming UWP Skype app would be available through the Store or be bundled with Windows 10. "You can think about that as ultimately replacing the Win32 app on larger screens and the Silverlight app on Windows Phone". "But if I go to the new build 14291 as soon as you plug in any controller Xbox One or 360 it crashes my computer i.e I get a total fail on the system until I remove the controller then the computer restarts", one user explained on the Community forums.

The company has now been getting many apps on-board with their Windows 10 devices and the latest name that is being said to have joined the Windows 10 Mobile phone family of applications is that of Starbucks!

"So messaging, calling and video, all in the same app for Windows 10".

"The introduction of Glide to the Windows platform with the native Windows 10 offering last month has been a significant milestone in our collaboration with Glide as a trusted partner".

"[Our] team has been working in partnership with Microsoft and we are within 30 to 45 days of releasing a Windows Phone app", he was quoted as saying by GeekWire. With this in mind, we released built-in, task oriented apps. Usually, people print documents from their computers, but the new update that was released for the Camera and Photos apps will allow you to print an image directly from your phone running on Windows 10 Mobile OS. Hopefully, these features will be added to the camera app in the near future. "Over time, we'll streamline all Skype for Windows 10 experiences into the Skype UWP app, but we'll do this in stages", the blog reads.

What Microsoft discovered is that the decoupled apps are preferred on the phone-phone usage tends to be more task-oriented, and the decoupled apps mimic the approach taken on, for example, iOS, where Phone, iMessage, and Facetime are all separate. It also features what Stafford called a "streamlined user experience", removing clutter like rarely-used status updates, and eliminating the "old-school" top menu in favor of right-click options on objects like contacts. Eventually, a version for Windows 10 Mobile will appear too, also in the Insider Preview.
