Amazon shares were up $6.90, or 1%, to $671.70 in premarket trading.

Sales of Fire TV alone jumped more than six times over the weekend, while tablet sales tripled. While the company didn't reveal any hard numbers, it says it sold "millions of devices" and 3x over a year ago. (The company's estimates come from analyzing some 151,337 receipts from Thanksgiving and Black Friday.) No doubt this is due, in part, to Amazon dropping the Fire's price from $50 to $35 for Black Friday. "We're excited that millions of customers will be opening new Amazon devices this holiday season".

"This has already been the biggest holiday shopping season for Amazon devices, and we're energized by the year over year growth for all of our product categories", noted Amazon devices senior VP Dave Limp.

Pay TV operator Sky has launched its Sky Go mobile TV service on the Amazon Fire platform.

Still, there's some questions around Amazon's claim to the Fire TV being the most popular streaming device in the US.

Fire TV devices (starting at $39.99 on Amazon) were the second most popular item after the new Fire tablet this weekend. And though fewer people were expected to shop on Cyber Monday compared to previous year, sales increased 17.8% over Cyber Monday 2014, according to IBM Watson Trend. When you're ready to relax with some music, tell your Fire TV to play selections from your library or streaming radio stations and even buy music.

The Kindle line was no slouch either, the e-tailer reported, with hundreds of thousands of the e-readers sold over the weekend.
