Sized Prince George cake scoops top prize

The Mirror says the cake, which stands just over a metre tall, took 30 hours to make.

An amateur baker made a life-sized Prince George cake for this year's Cake worldwide competition, which is being held at the NEC near Birmingham.

But fear not, George will not eaten as the cake is for decorative purposes only.

Winning baker and self-confessed royalist Lara Mason, from Walsall in the West Midlands, said she decided on George as her muse as much for tactical reasons, as anything else. "He's the most famous child in the world and especially cute as well and very, very current". She took to Facebook and shared a picture of the cake.

There's only one small problem... the cake itself is slightly terrifying.

"I got married a few weeks ago and while I started making the frame before the wedding, the majority was done in the last two weeks".

The cake shows two-year-old George wearing the iconic red-and-white outfit he donned for the christening of his baby sister Princess Charlotte in July.

She received a major endorsement of her life-size edible Katniss Everdeen replica from Jennifer Lawrence herself who described the Co Down woman as "incredibly talented" previous year.
