Pebble to launch Time Round, its first circular smartwatch

The new Pebble Time Round smartwatch will be available in stores starting November 8th.

Since the Pebble Time Round arrived in September, we've been waiting for an official release date for the circular-shaped smartwatch. What's more, although we were originally told that U.S. consumers would be the first to get their hands on one, you will actually also be able to order one from the Pebble website for shipping to the United Kingdom and other countries too. It's just 7.5mm thin and weighs only 28 grams, making it the lightest smartwatch on the market. The company has launched Pebble Time Round in three color variants, silver, black and rose gold. Metal band options are slated for later this year. The watch face is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass for scratch resistance. The typical price of the Pebble Time is $199, but now you will be able to purchase it for only $149.

It is easily their classiest watch till date. For one, the Time Round does not have a touch screen display, or NFC and Global Positioning System sensors which are pretty much standard feature on nearly all Android smartwatches. There also aren't many apps for the Pebble Time Round yet, only about 100, but I'm not sure I'd use more of them anyway.

Aside from a rounded display that gives it a unique look, the Pebble Time Round is essentially the same device as earlier members of the Time family. The water-resistant watch can also serve as music controller, the report adds. You can have a sporty band for when you go work out and then switch it with a link bracelet when you go to fancy events. Although you can make it work with Android, it wasn't built for Android and they don't work that well together. However, Pebble recommends that you leave the watch outside the shower. Quite honestly, I can't think of many tasks that would be better accomplished with a smartwatch than my phone. The new Pebble Time Round has reduced battery life compared to its predecessor.

You can now order the Pebble Time Round on the company's site for $249.99 in a range of colorways, and it'll ship in two to four weeks.

Pebble The Pebble Time Round gets a better design, but loses the week-long battery life previous models have.
